CHINATOWN AR is an augmented reality experience involving the rephotography of archival photographs of LA’s original Chinatown - currently buried under Union Station. Working with the Chinese American Museum and the Huntington Library, we place these historic photos as close as possible to the original locations where they were taken, and then extrude them into immersive 3D environments. This is a great way to bring historic archives to fresh eyes in an engaging way, both immersing and educating the public about lesser-known aspects about LA’s history.
